Thanks; I'll share Article IX: Special Interest Groups with the group.  Yes; it would be helpful to set up a space on OneDrive for the AI-SIG and the Alma-D workgroup.  I'll put this on the agenda for our next meeting.

Thanks,

Ryan

Hi Ryan,

From looking at Davin’s initial message, I think it would be helpful to outline what a Special Interest Group is/what it does under the Constitution and Bylaws. This is laid out under Article IX: Special Interest Groups. I believe Davin is looking at this more like a WG or CoP, when a SIG is more informal than that.

To the question about shared space – perhaps we can set something up in OneDrive?

Thanks,

Jason

Is it possible to obtain a shared drive, where AI-SIG members can park AI tools and reading materials?

Thanks,

Ryan

Sounds like a good idea, Davin. My previous e-mail to begin similar discussion noted the following:

Items which do not require periodic changes, unless it gets unorganized and the collected are about specific software, companies and their evolutions

(1) Shared space. Can we have a central location to house and organize all that we collect for explorations and discussions?

I see potentials in collecting all the tools and expectations and our categorization of them.

I also see potentials in listing out all our expectations and categories first prior to collecting tools, interests, reading materials, and others.

Most important of all, I see that we normally have a shared drive or wiki for ELUNA and IGELU work groups and special interest groups--would IGELU or ELUNA be providing us with such resource?

Work which require periodic updates and scheduled work

(2) ExLibris-related. Do we have to think about ExLibris' well-being? I think we should work on identifying and evaluating ExLibris' AI-related products and services.

(3) SIG-related. Should we conduct periodic surveys to determine ways to tailor make this group valuable accordingly?

Would be happy to help understand and organize for such space and some outputs and outcomes related to the topic. Let me know when we want to begin when you get the chance.

CAUTION: EXTERNAL EMAIL

Hi Everyone,

I am bouncing some conversation starters regarding the group and to see what direction the AI-SIG might take.

Area One

Formalize any leadership structure, including coordinator/co-coordinator and other roles. This would also lead to developing group bi-laws and other formalized documents as needed by steering. I am willing to take on the initial organization and formation, but others might also be interested in this role, so please step forward.

Area Two

I wanted to see what everyone thought about what areas of concern you have seen with Ex Libris/Clarivate Products.

Area Three

Do we wish to have a conversation regarding what our expectations are of Ex Libris/Clarivate in the development of the many AI-related tools.

Area Four

When we spot a problem, do we want to begin organizing a document of those concerns?

Area Five
Speaking of Steering, what are the general Steering Committee thoughts regarding the organization of this group, organization, and what we will be tasked with reviewing, overseeing, and communicating? As part of the organization process, should we have meetings organized quarterly or on a different time frame?

Area Six

After formation, should we attempt to obtain a liaison from Ex Libris? I had some success with Analytic Development once we had a dedicated Liasion, it may be be premature for this, but in the long run, having someone to advocate for the community directly with Ex Libris development would be beneficial.

Feel free to add areas to this list, and if there are any other points to discuss.

Thanks again,
