Hello Everyone,
I want to thank everyone who attended this years ELUNA and who participated in formation meeting of the AI Special interest group.
For those who were not in attendance, a permanent chair was elected and a overview of the purpose of the group was provided. I was honored by the attendees in asking me to continue as permanent chair, and I accepted the position.
Purpose of the Group:
The group will function as a communication venue for people to express their AI Interests, discuss different academic issues with AI, and other AI topics. This would include products and services outside of Clarivate/Ex Libris, but the
conversations should remain Library/Academic centered.
Monthly Topics will be sent out. I am compiling the discussion from ELUNA and will use those suggestions to provide direction to those topics.
In general, there was a lot of enthusiasm regarding AI at this year’s conference, but also concerns regarding AI direction, transparency in product documentation, and Ex Libris/Clarivate both communicating product development as well as
listening to the library/academic community about our concerns.
Ex Libris/Clarivate have members in this listserv, I encourage everyone to give feedback about AI issues here.
In addition, ELUNA product working group members have either already joined or will join in the future the group. We may see requests from those working group members to help with testing features, checking bugs, or providing input in the
future. I have encouraged working groups to use this group to the fullest.
Note: This group will not directly communicate with Ex Libris on product enhancements, changes to products, etc. That will be the responsibility of the product working groups. However, as discussions emerge that may benefit a working
group, those communications will be sent to the respective working group as needed.
I encourage you share your AI journeys, this is a developing landscape, and I am excited to see where this new adventure takes us.
