Your theory makes sense. Each LLM has its own maximum number of tokens it accepts in the context window. It’s probably inefficient to split the TOC into multiple images for OCR conversion, but the models are growing larger context windows every day. Let us know if you try it though.

**External Email**

I had an odd experience with the AI Metadata Assistant where I uploaded photos of a lengthy table of contents, hoping for a reasonably accurate 505. The metadata assistant created a 505 that had a few of the entries listed accurately, and then several made-up entries—titles and authors that were not in the photos I uploaded.  I suppose they were statistically probable entries, but that wasn’t the goal… and most of the entries were not there at all (perhaps it has difficulty making sense of a ToC that stretches over more than one page).

Hi Davin and Ai-sig,

Not a bug/issue, more of an observation.

I’ve been doing a lot of original cataloging lately and after I import the bib record into Alma, I like to run the “Enhance with AI Assistant” feature. I like to have as many access points as possible, especially in the 65X fields, and find the feature useful for that. The problem is that it repeats other fields unnecessarily, e.g., I will have an author in the 100 field and the AI Assistant will create a 700 field with the exact same information. Just yesterday, I was working on a bulletin from the 1800s and AI Assistant automatically added 490/830 fields, even though this bulletin wasn’t part of a series.

I like and will continue to use the feature, but I will continue to review each record for accuracy.

V/r,

Debbie

Hi Everyone,

I thought I would start a discussion this week on any known bugs you have seen and any resulting support cases that you may have submitted to Ex Libris.

This can be on any Ex Libris AI product. Any bugs shares will be compiled and shared with the respective working groups.

I would also share any Clarivate/ProQuest bugs as well, as Clarivate staff are part of this listserv.

Thanks again,
