Hello Everyone, Welcome again to this new listserv. As a note, we have had around 340 people sign up in the past week for the listserv. I encourage everyone to share AI-related topics within this listserv. We have not explicitly dealt with just Ex Libris AI discussions, so please feel free to discuss any AI-related topic. I thought that I would start a discussion on AI and Licensing, and I might revisit this topic periodically as the landscape changes. What terms or terminology have you seen in AI? Have you tried to include AI language in any licensing, and has it been successful? Any state requirements on AI? Have you found data mining terms to be sufficient instead of negotiating new clauses, or will you revisit older licenses to include AI-specific terms? So far, I have not seen any vendors specifically force AI language on new licenses, but I think this may change in the future. I have succeeded in limited cases of expanding data mining clauses to include data scraping for AI training. However, this has only occurred in a few licenses where the vendor has already allowed for data mining of the resource. Take care, and have a blessed week, Davin Pate, M.L.S.
