The Virginia Community College System Office in Richmond, Va. invites applications from energetic, service-minded professionals for our Coordinator of Library Systems Administration position. This position will serve as the Systems Librarian
for VCCS library automation systems and provide a variety of online library support services while working in close collaboration with the Director of Library Services, college libraries, VCCS Information Technology Services, and Virtual Library of Virginia
(VIVA) consortium staff. Management of the library systems includes all the components of ExLibris Primo, Aleph, Metalib, and SFX; college-specific EzProxy servers; QuestionPoint Virtual Reference Service; and bepress’ Digital Commons @VCCS repository. The
VCCS shared library systems support the System Office and 23 colleges with more than 40 locations.
Minimum Qualifications:

An MLS or equivalent from an ALA accredited program with at least two years of experience in library system management
·
Demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks in a complex and changing environment, including balancing long-term projects and being responsive to more immediate support needs
·
Demonstrated ability to work independently as well as collaboratively
·
Knowledge of integrated library systems and library-related data standards and formats, including MARC, z39.50, OpenURL, etc.
·
Functional knowledge of the UNIX operating system and PERL required
·
Experience managing remote user authentication required, and experience with EzProxy is highly desirable.
Preferred:
·
Administrative experience with ExLibris library systems (Aleph, SFX, and Primo) and large, multi-library system operations
·
Familiarity with uniform resource management systems such as ExLibris Alma
·
Experience with the community college library environment
·
Several years' experience with UNIX system administration and programming in a complex computing environment.
