The Johns Hopkins University Sheridan Libraries invite applications and nominations for the Electronic Resources Licensed Content Librarian position. The successful candidate will be an innovative, collaborative, service oriented librarian having experience with the eresources life cycle including licensing, procurement, eresources management  and problem resolution.

RESPONSIBILITIES:   Negotiate and manage licenses, their expiration and  renewal.  Evaluate  license agreements to determine compliance with the University Libraries’ licensing policy and communicate  across the University libraries to promote mutual understanding of  e-resource licensing terms and principles.  Establish and maintain communications with vendors, publishers, and consortia to understand  new products, services, enhancements to products;  evaluate the impacts on the overall e-resources strategy as well as  changing business models on the collections budget.  Create and communicate  cost analysis of new and renewed purchases. Prepare management reports that support  assessment of eresource collections.  Collaborate with Associate Director of Scholarly Resources and Special Collections, Technical Services  librarians,  and financial staff in monitoring $9M+  eresource  budget. Manage ordering and renewal of electronic resources. Register and activate new electronic resources. Establish trials and pilots for prospective purchases. Troubleshoot and help resolve user access problems. Participate in  maintenance of  knowledge bases used for electronic resource management and Open URL link resolution. Collaborate with managers in  evaluating,  designing, and documenting   cost efficient, effective workflows for e-resources processes. Enhance  expertise in all aspects of e-resource management through participation in workshops, webinars, professional associations and networks, and through continued awareness of the scholarly research process.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:   MLS from an ALA-accredited library school .  Two or more years of experience supporting electronic resource lifecycle activities in a large academic or research  library.  Demonstrated ability working with the  complex  electronic publishing environment to negotiate licenses for electronic content and to manage renewal of electronic resource subscriptions.  Knowledge of copyright and Intellectual Property issues, electronic resource management, link resolver software, and integrated library systems. Strong commitment to collaboration, quality service and innovation.  Commitment to using new technology to advance work goals and to enhance service.  Excellent organizational, analytical and problem-solving skills in an environment requiring attention to detail and a high level of accuracy. Ability to meet project deadlines.  Strong interpersonal, oral and written communication skills. Ability to thrive in a fast paced, highly evolving team within a complex organization and  to manage  tasks in response to varying time pressures, shifting priorities, and changing constraints. Preferred:  Project management experience or training. Knowledge of change management and  experience performing  workflow analyses.
