DMV also already stands for the Division of Motor Vehicles, which might create a subconscious aversion to the group. I support “Mid-Atlantic” as well.

All:
I think DMV runs the risk of people thinking it stands for Delaware, Maryland, and Virginia. I also double checked on the Northeast User Group, which includes
nearby states such as Delaware, Pennsylvania, and New Jersey. According to their web site, “In 2010 EMA (Ex Libris Mid Atlantic) and NEUG (New England User’s
Group) merged to form ENUG.” I think, reestablishing the Mid Atlantic name, perhaps with a different acronym-MAUG? Or EMAUG? or EMUG?- is a good option and also allows flexibility if any libraries in our neighboring states want to participate. J

Subject: [DCExLIBRIS] What's in a name?
Hello Members,
We have heard from some of our members that our name, DC Ex Libris User Group, is too limiting and does not reflect who we truly represent as a region.
There is interest in changing our name to something that is more suitable for the region.
A couple of suggestions we have heard is DMV and Mid-Atlantic.
Our regional group represents a number of member sites, including Maryland, Virginia, and Washington, DC.
This email has the goal of evaluating a proposed name change for the DC Ex Libris User Group. It is designed to allow members to express their opinions
about the idea of a change and to provide suggestions for a new name.
Here are names of all the ELUNA Regional User Groups (RUGs) in the United States:
Please feel free to express your ideas and suggestions for a name change.
Thank you in advance for your interest and providing fresh perspectives.
Best,
Denise Branch
