I don’t know what’s recommended from a best practice perspective.  And I rarely work with QR codes.

From a laptop perspective, looking at these examples, they don’t work with JAWS. They are built with images only.  JAWS just says:

Scan me!   Graphic –

This seems to assume the user could point a camera to the right spot on the screen.  I’m surprised they are not also linked to the destination page

This page has some thoughtful guidance about QR codes, including how does one know there’s a QR code on the page: https://tetralogical.com/blog/2022/08/08/accessibility-and-qr-codes/

Subject: [EXTERNAL *] [Eluna-accessibility] Two questions

Hi all,

So glad this list is here and grateful in advance for your help.

When creating an email or a document with a QR Code, do screen readers treat those any differently than other images?  I'm assuming I should still provide alt-text but wanted to make certain nothing more is needed.

And, I don't seem to have the next community of practice meeting on my calendar - can someone post the invite or Zoom link to the list?

Thanks everyone!

Lori
