Good Afternoon DCExLibris Users, In case you missed it, Eluna 2018 will be in lovely Spokane, Washington this year and we are hoping to see many of you there! This position serves as the primary library liaison to campus partner collections, connecting them with library services, which make their resources discoverable to the wider university community. The Coordinator works with Archives and Special Collections to plan and carry out targeted data cleanup and enhancement projects for digital collections and coordinates the Resource Description unit’s contributions. This position creates and analyzes sets of records and other metadata according to select criteria as part of targeted metadata/catalog clean up, enhancement, and other analytics projects. Additionally, this position contributes to general copy-cataloging as well as special projects, such as inventory or move-to-storage. *Educational Requirements: * Masters of Library Science is required. *Minimum Requirements: * - At least 2 years of library experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and work experience in a related position that demonstrates the necessary skills and abilities for the position including supervisory and/or project leadership experience - Experience with analyzing, creating, enhancing, and transforming MARC and non-MARC metadata in both Integrated Library System (ILS) and non-ILS platforms - Experience using OCLC Connexion, OCLC WorldShare Management System, digital repository platforms, and integrated library systems - Advanced, extensive knowledge of technical rules and standards for national cataloging rules and standards, including MARC21 standards (Machine Readable Cataloging), International Standard Bibliographic Description, and structure and coding of both local and national cataloging systems - Knowledge of Anglo-American Cataloging Rules (AACR2), Resource Description and Access (RDA), and Program for Cooperative Cataloging/Library of Congress Policy Statements (PCC-PS’s). Experience with controlled vocabularies including Library of Congress Subject Headings (LCSH), Library of Congress Name Authority Cooperative (NACO), and Virtual International Authority File (VIAF). Dear DC ExLibris Community, Such a sad event--Gene was an active member of DCExLibris and I know I will miss him terribly. Please see notice below. *Sent:* Tuesday, December 19, 2017 9:07 AM *Subject:* Gene Dickerson I’m sorry to have to report that Gene Dickerson, died on Saturday morning, about 5am, at Georgetown University Hospital, after a long battle with cancer. Gene joined the Bunche Library, US Department of State, in 2006 as the Cataloging Team Leader. From 1996 through 2006 he served as a Unit Head for the National Library of Medicine. Gene was serials librarian with Villanova University Library from 1986 to 1996. He received his MLS from Rutgers in 1982. Gene’s great cataloging skills, high productivity, and systems insight will be sorely missed. He always stayed current with changes and innovations in our profession. Few people were as dedicated to Librarianship. His friend, Ken Plonsky, plans to hold a “Celebration of Life” for Gene’s friends and colleagues on January 7th, which would have been Gene’s 60th birthday. That’s from 1:00 to 5:00, at the Van Ness North apartments. Cancellation of After ELUNA get together Sept 9, at the Smithsonian

Due to lack of presentation submissions from folks who attended ELUNA, we unfortunately need to cancel our after ELUNA get together which was scheduled for Friday, June 9, 2017. Kim and I had felt that this would be a wonderful opportunity for those who were not able to attend ELUNA to come and hear what those who did had to report on sessions they attended. But, since there were only two submissions, we felt that the session would not be very useful to attendees. We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused but we think that you, too, will agree that the meeting would not be very meaningful without more presenters. We are hopeful that we will have an annual meeting this year in DC and do wish you will consider attending. More to follow on that. Thank you for your understanding. DCExLibris After ELUNA Summary at The Smithsonian June 9, 2017

If you were not able to attend ELUNA in Chicago, now is your chance to hear from others who did! The Smithsonian has agreed to supply the venue for our Friday, June 9th gathering. While there is no charge for attendance, we do ask that you register <https://goo.gl/forms/YS5WjEyWD7OpttLd2> no later than June 5th. Registration is limited to 70 individuals. Since we are not able to provide coffee, you may purchase coffee and snacks at the local coffee shop near the Smithsonian and enjoy them during the meeting.
