We meet annually every Fall; our schedule includes updates from the ELUNA Steering Committee and Ex Libris, as well as presentations from Ex Libris product users like you! We are asking for 30 minute presentations that can run the gamut of demonstrations, how-to’s, panel discussion, or a wider overview of library and information systems. Presenters do NOT have to be from the DC metro area; we love to hear from people both inside and outside our region. If you think you have a good idea, you probably do - and we’d love to hear it! It was a coincidence that I am now the new Conference Program Committee Chair for ELUNA 2024, and it has nothing to do with my proximity to the venue. However, this change is sad because Shay Beezley has had to step back from leading the committee to a consultancy role. We will all miss her outstanding leadership and support for the annual meeting. I appreciate her willingness to provide some support to guide us through the process as the committee makeup is also changing. To get to the next important part of this message, we are looking for additional program committee members to help us do everything we need to do to make ELUNA wonderful. If you are intrigued, here is an overview of what we will be working on: - We review program proposals for the tracks to see if they match attendee interests. We rarely turn down a presentation outright. However, we might notice similar presentation proposals during our reviews and suggest the submitters partner up. - We also help encourage presenters by contacting people individually regarding presentation topics they could use. Sending encouraging emails to the discussion lists is another way to find presenters. - We also help communicate information to the presenters. That could include acceptance emails, scheduling requests, and moderator information, depending on what the software we use can do. - We review various publications (print program, online schedule, etc.) depending on availability and timelines. - In the past, there has been a moderator coordinator position too. They would start once the schedule was finalized to slot moderators into sessions. They didn't participate in the review/acceptance process. - If interested, you could also help me with some data entry tasks typically assigned to the Chair. As a particular call, we would love to get some of our colleagues from special/private/government libraries, non-traditional academic library departments, and non-US library locations. I am pleased to announce the new co-chair for the DC Regional User Group (DC RUG) - Shane Hickey, Resource Sharing and Discovery Services Manager at American University in Washington, DC. Shane will be co-chairing DC RUG for 2023-2024, and I will remain as co-chair for the rest of this year. In addition, we'd like to get some feedback on our upcoming annual meeting. Our goal is to get a better sense of when the meeting should take place, and whether it should be online or in-person. Call for volunteers : DC RUG Co-Chair for 2023 - 2024

Hello everyone, The DC Regional User Group (which, contrary to the name, also includes Virginia and Maryland) recently held a quick in-person meeting at last week's ELUNA conference in Los Angeles. Below is a synopsis of what was discussed, which includes some important announcements. After three years as co-chair of the group, Laura Morales is stepping down from the position. She felt that now was the right time to leave, seeing as how her current position doesn't involve Alma and Primo to the degree that it once did. On a similar note, I have decided that the 2023 annual meeting will be the last one I help to organize. Laura and I have had a great time as co-chairs of the group, and it's time for us to pass on the torch. Some feedback I received last week was to institute co-chairs on a rolling basis; each co-chair would serve two years, and the terms of each chair would overlap. With that in mind, I am calling for volunteers to co-chair DC RUG for 2023 - 2024. Co-chairing involves two major responsibilities : 1) keeping an eye on the DC RUG listserv, and 2) organizing the annual meeting. Although the annual meeting has been held online for the past three years, there is the potential to host an in-person meeting. For this upcoming year, I would serve as your co-chair; then in 2024, a new co-chair would step in as my replacement and would serve from 2024-2025.
